It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gilbert Bailey Powell Sr. in Jackson, Mississippi, born in Laurel, Mississippi, who passed away on August 27, 2022, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Frances Powell; his parents, Gilbert Powell and Myrtis Bailey Powell; and his sister Annette Shelton. He is survived by: his children, Gilbert "Gil" B. Powell, Jr. (Wendy) of Madison, MS, Rosanne Crockett (Bennie) of Hattiesburg, MS and Suzanne Mason (Charlie) of Indianola, MS; his siblings, David Powell (Carole) of Leesburg, FL, Patricia Berry (Crist) of Richmond, VA and George Powell (Kathy) of Meridian, MS.; his grandchildren, Julianne King (Rob) of Hattiesburg, MS, Kyle Crockett of Jackson, MS, David Mason of Madison, MS and Gilbert "Bailey" Powell, III of Madison, MS; and his great grandchildren, Robert King of Hattiesburg, Anne Bennett King of Hattiesburg and Virginia King of Hattiesburg. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
Although Alzheimer's disease changed him and robbed him of so many memories and activities, some things remained the same.
