With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Hazel Jacqueline Pierce (Jackson, Mississippi), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 5, 2025 at the age of 96. Though Hazel Jacqueline may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Hazel Jacqueline touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Laura Leigh Ross Smith and William Clifton Smith; her siblings, La Rita Mixon, Bill Smith and George Smith; and her daughter Jeannie Updike (Jimmy) of Starkville, MS..
She is survived by: her grandson Mark Overbay (Megan); her brothers, Perrin Smith and Russell Smith; and also, Jim Pierce and Daphne Shaw.
