He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin H. Burney and Rosemary Curlee Burney; his siblings, Ben Burney, Edward Burney and Betty Jane Burney Clark; his siblings-in-law, Gladys Burney, George Croy, Phillip Clark and Calvin Phelps; and his nephews, Paul Brendon Burney and Billy Phelps.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Barnes Burney; his son Rocky; and his siblings, Donald Burney, Ronald Burney (June), Paul Burney, Dr. William (Billy), Mary Katherine Burney Phelps, Geraldine Burney Croy, Carolyn Burney Cook (Lucius) and Peggy Burney.
