It is with great sadness that we announce the death of JoAnn Whittington in Jackson, Mississippi, who passed away on July 4, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George Wallace Emerson and Mary Louise Greenough Emerson; her husband Ralph Eugene Whittington, Sr.; and her siblings, Mary Jane Crisco, Wallace Emerson, George Emerson, Jr., Terrell Emerson and Billy Emerson.
She is survived by: her children, Stephanie Cothran, R. E. Whittington (Laura), Gina Welsh (Bernie) and Nicole Whittington; her grandchildren, Amanda Stevens (Kyle), Tyler Cothran, Reid Whittington (Jessica), Ramsey Whittington (Atchison), Olivia Lewis (Hunter), Layne Ledingham, Brantley Welsh and Bailey Nettles (Brandon); her great grandchildren, Jaxon Stevens, Kale Stevens, Stella Stevens, Asher Whittington, Adler Whittington, Holland Whittington, Townes Whittington, Laurel Lewis, Lynnon Lewis and Violet Nettles; her sisters, Bonnie Goff (Edward), Lynda Buckelew (Calvin), Donna Hall (Larry) and Marcia Johnson; and her caregivers, Samantha, Deonna, Rebecca, Robin, Lora, Tameka, Rachel, Nelson, Courtney, Amanda, Wes and Amber. She is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
