He was predeceased by: his wife Kathrine Self; his siblings, Daniel Self, George Self, Wallace Self, Scotty Self, Kay Johnson and Jean Gibson; his parents, Daniel Oscar Self and Edna Mae Drummond; and his stepchildren, Ronald Ford and Belva Steen.
He is survived by: his children, Jan Self Francis, Debbie Self Bresnahan (Bob) and Oscar Self (Cindy); his siblings, Allen Hugh Self, Arthur Edward Self and Katherine Rice (Tom); and his stepdaughter Lanette McDaniel (Willard). He is also survived by several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
