Mrs. Michelle McGee Swinney
Michelle - born August 12, 1966 - in Jackson, Mississippi was the 2nd child and the oldest daughter of her 20-year-old parents the late William (Willie) Earl McGee and Melvin Nichols (both Jackson natives).
Michelle joined her ancestors, August 20, 2025, a week after she celebrated her 59th birthday with family and friends at her home. She was preceded in death by her grandparents (Lee Andrew and Christine McGee; her father, her adopted aunt, her oldest brother William Earl McGee, Jr. and other relatives.
Michelle was adopted and raised by her father’s oldest sister Christell McGee Wilson. Michelle grew up surrounded by the love of family at her grandparents' home on Newport Street where three generations of McGees ate Sunday and holiday meals. Michelle had a wonderful life on earth. She attended the Jackson Public School and the Pensacola Florida Public School systems. She was in the Callaway High School Class of 1984.
Michelle worked in the food service industry and loved to cook. She will be remembered as a great cook and host. Like her grandmother and mother, she hosted many holiday family gatherings. She was the life of her gatherings. Michelle was a Christian who loved life and people from all walks of life. She was adored as a neighborhood mom to many.
Michelle is the mother of four children, Christopher, Christie, Jessica, and Johnathon McGee. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren: Angel, Xavier, Cornaisha, Jonkiya, Jonathan, Angelina, Jacobe, Jayla, Jayden, and JaRiichy McGee; Kevin and Devin Tyler; and Mikel, Isaiah, and Maddison Myles.
She was joined in holy matrimony on February 11, 2012 to Kevin Swinney. Michelle’s memories will be cherished by many loved ones including but not limited to her loving husband, children, and grandchildren; her uncles Curtis (Butch) McGee, Michael Lindsey; her aunts Dorothy McGee, Shelia (Gene) Richardson Warren, of Hazelhurst; Sharon Lindsey Miller, Daphne Richardson all of Jackson, MS, Shelia (Eugene) Warren, Hazelhurst, MS; her siblings: Debra McGee, Las Vegas, NV, Karen (Russell) Smith, Douglasville, GA, Kenneth Earl McGee, Mischa Scott Cage, Rashad Scott, Kelsey Dior Reed, Sabrina Nicole Nichols, Jacqueline (Keith) Marie Nichols Currie, Cleo of Jackson, Michael D’Andre Buckley, Mableton, GA; her step sister Umekia Scott, Newark, TX; her adopted sister Mary Wilson, Jackson, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends, in-laws, and neighbors.
