He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Sorey and Elane Sorey; and his daughter Sarah. He is survived by: his wife Marti; his daughters, Mary Rogers, Katie and Laura; his siblings, Kathy Casey (Buddy), Dwight (Betty Jo), Adrian (Lisa) and Laura Watkins (James); his brother-in-law Dennis O'Neal (Kay); his cousins, Carolyn Lewis and Siamese; and his pets, Helen and Marshall. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, May 24th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Galloway United Methodist Church (305 N Congress St, Jackson, MS 39201). A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 24th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church; the Millsaps College Annual Fund; the McLean Fletcher Center; or Children's of Mississippi Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.

“Dr. Sorey was my instructor in General Pediatric Clinic, and Peds ER in my Pediatric Residency from 1996-1999. I will never forget his wisdom and the love he showed his patients. He was loved and respected by residents, faculty, and patients at UMMC. He left us too soon and will be sorely missed. Prayers of peace and comfort to Marti and his girls, whom he loved dearly. ~ Wendy Bowen”
