He was predeceased by: his parents, James Curtis and Loree Funderburk Spence; his son Aaron Spence; his grandchildren, Brooke Williams and Chad Williams; and his sisters, Faye Heard and Charlene White.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Moore Spence; his children, James "Jimmy" Thomas Spence, Jr. (Jamie) of Foley, Alabama, Vanessa Williams of New Albany, Shellie Kent (Tim) of New Albany and Christie Bennett (Dan) of Oxford; his grandchildren, Austin Kent (Kati), Kevin Kent, Kristin Kent Harris and Brittney Edwards (Blake); his great grandchildren, Mollie Edwards, Rhett Edwards, Dansby Kent, Walker Harris, Cooper Edwards, Daxon Kent, Leah Grace Harris and Darci Kate Kent; and his siblings, Arlin Spence, Leslie Spence and Brenda Spence Mock. He is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends.
