We announce the death of Horace Fletcher Tavares Sr. of Kosciusko, Mississippi, who passed away on August 3, 2026, at the age of 89. Horace will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel John and Hazel Woods Tavares; and his siblings, Daniel John "Danny Boy" Tavares, Jr., Jerry Ray Tavares, Sue Tavares Burns and Amie Tavares Charity.

He is survived by: his wife Gladys Ann Burdine Tavares; his children, Melissa Burdine Tavares Manseill (Keith), Horace Fletcher Tavares, Jr. and Christian Ann Tavares; his grandchildren, Brad McAdams, Tina Graham (Craig), Tara Davis (John), Tasha Grantham and Trey Tavares (Nicole); his great grandchildren, Britlon Howard (Tyler), Peyton Graham, Branson Grantham, Colton Graham, Bentlee Ebelhar, Fletcher Tavares and Sawyer Tavares; his great great grandchildren, Kinley Howard and Kendall Howard; and his siblings, Bobbie Tavares Carbo, Helen Tavares Farbe, Kay Tavares Patrick (Bob), Fay Tavares Frazier (Charles), Sammy Charles Tavares and Ricky Earl Tavares (Sandy). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
