He was predeceased by : his parents, Ralph F. Self, Sr. and Dorothy Herod Self; his siblings, Barbara F. Self, Stacey L. Self and Thurman A. Self; his parents-in-law, Boyd and Jessie Melcher Ramage; and his brother-in-law Bob Dumas.

He is survived by : his wife Brenda Ramage Self (Ramage); his sisters, Jerrie E. Self Dumas, Karen Self Kuhn (Freddie) and April Self Jordan (Ric); his friend Herb Elam; and his pet Sonny. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews he loved.
