He was predeceased by : his parents, Clarence James Rutledge and Vera Andree Jinkins Rutledge; his siblings, Beatrice Steelman, James "Bud" Rutledge, Mary Busby, Louis Rutledge, Margie R. Rutledge and Walter Rutledge; his granddaughter April Rodriguez; and his stepson Shane Tarpley.

He is survived by : his wife Peggy Rutledge of Kosciusko, Mississippi; his children, Carla Collins of Florida, Karen Hearn of Tupelo, Kim Hitchcock of Tupelo, Teresa Lindsey (Brian) of Brandon and Alex Alexander; his stepchildren, Terry Shaw and Stephenia Jones; his siblings, Joe Rutledge of Philadelphia, MS, Randy Rutledge of Greenville, MS, Pete Rutledge of Belzoni, MS and Ada O'Neal of Greenville, MS; and his stepgrandchildren, Chandler Shaw, Preston Shaw, Amber Blocker and Robert Willis. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
