He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Burks and Madeline Burks; and his sister-in-law Marty Burks. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Temple Burks; his children, Nick Burks and Heather Burks (Xavier January); his siblings, Robert Burks, Mack Burks (Sue) and Betty Helmbeck (Bob); and his pet Bubba Burks. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Life Church general fund.
