She was predeceased by : her parents, Alex Sanders and Beatrice Sanders; her husband Harold Joyce "Bill" Blackledge; her brothers, Jessie Lamar and John Sanders; and her son-in-law Robert Jones.

She is survived by : her daughters, Rebecca McCown and Debra Jones; her son-in-law Dr. John McCown; her grandchildren, Cherilyn (Joshua Switzer), Robert (Taci Jones) and John Stephen (Saviz McCown); and her great grandchildren, Taylor Switzer, Breanna Rouse and Katelyn Jones. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

She also worked at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi until she began working in the family business, Blackledge Drugs, in Laurel, Mississippi until 1989.
