It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Florence Eleanor Purvis (Laurel, Mississippi), who passed away on July 12, 2025, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Walters and Elsie Walters (Odom); her husband George Hilton Purvis; her siblings, Herbert Walters (Ann), Herschel Walters (Mildred), Exel Aultman (Paul), Margaret Beech (Tom) and Doug Walters; and her son-in-law L. Kenneth Smith.
She is survived by: her daughters, Karen P. Smith, Janise Edmiston (Lee), Marie Smith (Ed) and Millie Williams (James "Chip"); her grandchildren, Julie Partain (Jess), Jamie Partain, Kim Smith Marascalco (Billy), Brian Smith (Heather), Amy Smith, Max Edmiston (Amy), David Smith (Melissa), Vernon Smith (Libby) and Drew Smith (Jeniffer); and her siblings, Fred Walters (Winnie) and Deborah Martin (Gerald). She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Faith Community Church (836 MS-28, Soso, MS 39480). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
