Jan Vrieswyk Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Jan Vrieswyk (Laurel, Mississippi), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 1, 2025 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Vrieswyk and Tietje Hellenga Vrieswyk; his siblings, Johannes Vrieswyk and Aaltje Wiersma; his brother-in-law Hank Wiersma; his nephew Edward Vrieswyk; his parents-in-law, Daniel and Kathryn Nelson; his siblings-in-law, Walter Nelson, Dorothy Smith, Frank Smith and Jikkie Vrieswyk; and his nephew Walter Kevin Nelson.
He is survived by: his wife Aurella Vrieswyk; his children, Tom Vrieswyk (Lara), Jacob Vrieswyk (Kristin) and Trina Herrington (Tony); and his siblings, Douwe Vrieswyk, Durk Vrieswyk (Meinie) and Tsjettie Van (Folkert). He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 5th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Audubon Drive Bible Church (2601 Audubon Dr, Laurel, MS 39440). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideons International or Choices Clinic of Laurel.
