She was predeceased by : her parents, William Wesley and Audrey McIntosh Simpson; her husband William Haskel Smith; her daughter Patricia Jan "Patti" Smith; and her friend Betty Chapman of Memphis, Tenn..

She is survived by : her daughter Peggie Smith Gilbert; her son-in-law Jeff Gilbert of Rio Rancho, N. M.; her grandson Kline Gilbert; her brother Wesley Simpson (Iram Simpson) of Laurel; and her friend Beverly Ann Abernathy of Laurel. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family members, and three adopted dogs.
