We are sad to announce that on January 24, 2024, at the age of 78, Fred William Abide Jr. of Leland, Mississippi, born in Greenville, Mississippi passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred William Abide, Sr. and Emily Tonos Abide. He is survived by: his brothers, John of Jackson, Joe of Oxford and George (Callista) of Golden Valley, MN.; and his siblings' children, Jason, Daniel, Leland (Lisia Rollman), Bennett and Rebecca (Kevin Boggs).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.

“I am very saddened to hear of the passing of my friend, Fred Abide. Fred and I have been associated through our common hobby of Amateur Radio. We both began as teenagers and have known each other since the early 1960s. Some of the memories include participating in the Amateur Radio "field day", a 24-hour continuous outdoors operation. The goal was to make the most contacts with other operators in as many states and countries as possible. Fred was one of the best. I will miss K5FA. Curt W.”
