He was predeceased by: his parents, W. L. "Pete" Lanier and Willa Estes; and his stepfather Hamp Estes. He is survived by: his siblings, Danny Lanier (Janet), Mark Lanier (Dannette), Wayne Lanier (Karen), Dawn Jenkins and Alice Jones. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
