He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Bassett and Mary Etta Bassett of Louin, MS.; his son David Lee Bassett; his brothers, Tommy and Jerry Bassett; his brother-in-law Ron Ford; and his grandson Zac Ainsworth.
He is survived by: his sister Mary Lynda Ford; the mother of his children Faye Bassett; his daughters, Tammy Lewis (Tom) and Sheila Ainsworth (Tony); his grandchildren, Cara Cahak (Ryan), Lee Aultman (Candice), Brooks Lewis (Blair), Ryan Aultman, Josh Aultman and Heath Ainsworth; his great grandchildren, Alee Hyatt, Annah Cate Hyatt, Logen Aultman, Layke Aultman, Charli Cahak, Blake Lewis, Sophie Aultman, Berklee Aultman, Rett Cahak, Sam Parker Lewis, Dylan Aultman, Leo Cahak, Koen Aultman, Ella Aultman, Katelyn Aultman, Natalee Ainsworth, Nathan Ainsworth and Ashlee Ainsworth; his great great grandchild Leighton Hill; his sister-in-law Janell Bassett; and his nephew Kyle Ford. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home (22 E 4th Ave, Bay Springs, MS 39422). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, December 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Louin Cemetery.
