He is survived by: his children, Chevelle Hall, Primas Hall, Vernita Avery (Lewis), Tatasha Austin, Curtis Austin, II (Megan) and Chaquastia Austin; and his siblings, Wilma Veasley (Jim), Lois Steele, Billy Ray Steele, William Earl Steele (Evelyn), Ida Miller (Terry), Clara Cooper and James Cooper (Dianne). He is also survived by 26 grandchildren.
