With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Lamar Parkes (Louisville, Mississippi), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 17, 2025 at the age of 86. He was predeceased by: his parents, Tilden Parkes, Jr. and Bertha Franks Parkes; his grandfather Dr. Parkes; and his brother Charles Anderson Parkes (Jean). He is survived by: his wife Martha Dawn Parkes; his children, Renee Parkes Jones (Glen) of Louisville, Luke Parkes (Tammy) of Louisville and Dan Parkes (Kayla) of Louisville; his grandchildren, Amanda Stanton (Adam), Jaimee Childs (Justin), Drew Jones (Cheryl), Meredith Cherry (Jon), Cody Parkes (Anzie), Warner Parkes, Marlee Stewart (Will), Morgan Pace (Michael), Channing Parkes, Taylor Miller (Tayler), Blaine Miller and Montana Miller; his great grandchildren, Bryce Stanton, Eli Stanton, Cade Jones, Peyton Jones, Grayson Jones, Hunter Gustavsen, Patton Childs, Quintin Childs, Hanna Gustavsen, Anders Cherry, Chancey Parkes, Charlee Parkes, Parker Williamson, Allie Kate Williamson, Hayes Pace, Nash Pace and Rory Pace; and his brother Johnny Parkes (Ann). He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Sunday, October 19th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Harmony Baptist Church (320 Harmony Baptist Church Rd, Louisville, MS 39339). A burial was held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 at the Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery (12956 MS-490, Louisville, MS 39339).
