He was predeceased by: his parents, Lathon McCool and Mable Shumaker McCool; and his siblings, Jewel McCool, Gene McCool, Dannie Mae Nicolais, Willie Mae Wood, Paul McCool, James McCool and Thomas McCool.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Steed McCool of Louisville; his children, David McCool (Jeanenne) of Louisville, Dan McCool (Kathy) of Louisville, Debbie Sullivan of Louisville and Dinah Kay Bryan (David) of Carthage, Mississippi.; his grandchildren, Conner McCool (Sandy), John "Jes" Sullivan and Emma Bryan; and his brother R. L. McCool.
