He is survived by: his wife Sandra Goff Merritt; his mother Mahala Merritt; his children, Douglas Merritt Jr. (Tara), Sarah Hoven (Richard), Caleb Merritt (Stephanie), Benjamin Merritt (Candyse), Victoria Batin (Torrington) and Lily Shamataylo (Denis); and his siblings, Danny Merritt, Debra Crooker (Gill), Don Merritt (Rita) and Dana Pope. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
