He was predeceased by: his son D. J. Tompkins; his great grandchild Canton Bruce Malcom; his parents, Aubrey Robertson (Cleo Tompkins) and Lois Robertson; his siblings, James "Buck" Tompkins, Verlin "Bud" Tompkins and Jeanette Kirby; and his son-in-law Justin Malcom.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Jones Tompkins; his daughters, Cassandra Beth Tompkins and Connie Malcom; his grandchildren, Lacy Box (Jamie), Jeremy Pierce (Denise), Chala Verdin, Whitney Malcom, Briana Cooley (Byron) and Travis Malcom (Nicole); and his great grandchildren, Kelsey (Ryan), Zach, Trevor, Maddie, Wyatt, Avery, Aiden, Keaton, Ryleigh, Gabe, Hallie, Liam, Cruze, Ellie, Graham, CarieAnn and Harlem Reese. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
