He was predeceased by : his parents, William Burns and Catherine Burns; his son William S. Burns III; and his in-laws, Edward and Dolores Lassus.

He is survived by : his wife Linda Burns; his children, Sandie Enlund (Matthew), Wendi Medlin, Steven Burns (Michelle) and Thomas Gauthreaux (Dana); his grandchildren, Morgan Keller (Zachary), Paige Burns, Shane Burns, Aaron Enlund (Madison), Abigail Enlund and Shelby Gauthreaux; and his great grandchild Josephine Keller. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, May 11th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (379 W Seneca Rd, Lumberton, MS 39470). A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, May 11th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
