It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maxie M Thornton of Madison, Mississippi, born in Raleigh, Mississippi, who passed away on May 9, 2023, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Leo Thornton and Melvin Thornton; and his siblings, Mable Tillson, James Thornton (JB), Bobby Thornton and Ruth Wagner.

He is survived by : his wife Jessie Walters; and his daughter Brenda Van Velkinburgh (Michael) of Ridgeland.
