He was predeceased by: his parents, Billy Albert McKinley and Mascial Ernestin Salters; his siblings, Mike McKinley and Sue Robinson; and his granddaughter Mary Ellen Cox.

He is survived by: his wife Joan McKinley; his children, Scottie McKinley of Clinton, Matthew McKinley of Braxton, Mississippi, Sonja Coale (Chuck) of Lawrenceburg, Angelia Perry (Jerry) of Braxton and Tina Cox of Richwood, Texas.; his siblings, Kenneth McKinley of Star, Mississippi and Betty Myers of Pearl, Mississippi.; his grandchildren, Alex Coale of San Diego, California, Dillion Coale of Hanford, California, Marlee Perry of Mendenhall, Mississippi, Reese Cox, Andrew Cox of Richwood, Texas, Delaney Gholson of San Angelo, Texas, Adam Perry of Brandon, Mississippi and Kyle McKinley of Jackson, Mississippi.; and his great grandchildren, Cash Miller, Kinley Mae Coale and Dean Coale.
