He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Evans Sr. and Martha Case Evans; his wife Barbara S. Evans; his sons, Gregory Sterling Evans and Dr. Vernon Scott Evans; and his brothers, Robert Evans and Gordon "Buddy" Evans.
He is survived by: his sons, Phil Evans, Jr. (Anna) and Chuck Evans (Kay); his siblings-in-law, Paul Sterling, Frances Walker, Patricia Seale (Jack), Pauline Behlar (Jimmy) and Cheryl Foster; his grandchildren, Sarah Rabalais (Brad), Leah Templeton (Michael), Stacey Evans, Jennifer Crosby and Henry Crosby; and his great grandchildren, Brayden Bordelon and Case Michael Templeton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to South McComb Baptist Church in his name.
