He was predeceased by : his parents, Clint Mitchell and Clara Mitchell; and his siblings, Dona Faye Hooper, Janie Grace Wells and Clartis Mitchell.

He is survived by : his wife Mary Frances Mitchell of Marks, MS; and his sons, James Forrest Mitchell (Debra) of Gulfport, MS, John A. Mitchell (Vicky) of Maryville, TN and Mark Henry Mitchell (Robin) of Marks, MS. He is also survived by six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
