She was predeceased by: her parents, James Alvro Oates and Vivian Saxton Oates. She is survived by: her husband Bennie Harold Norwood; her children, David Shelton (Emily) of Oxford and Jama Shelton (Glennda) of Asbury Park; her stepson Cheslee Norwood (Christy) of Hernando, Mississippi; her grandchildren, Sam Shelton of Nashville, Tennessee, Emma Shelton of Athens, Georgia, Mack Shelton of Oxford, Mississippi, Anslee Claire Norwood of Hernando, Mississippi and Frankie Shelton-Testone of Asbury Park; and her siblings, David Oates of Hatfield and Ruth Radcliffe of Schertz, Texas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Marian's life may be honored by donations to DeSoto Arts Council, or the charity of one's choice.
