He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy W. Shumate and Marguree Small Shumate; his brother Robert J. (Bob) Shumate (Linda); and his in-laws, Guy and Nell Presley.
He is survived by: his wife Suzanne Shumate; his sister Carolyn Williams (Don); his niece Susan Bowen (Greg); his great-nephew Jason Bowen; his great-niece Jessica Hendricks (Alan); his sister-in-law Deana Presley; Gage Bowen and Annie Opal Hendricks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church, 415 Delaware Ave, McComb, MS, honoring his faith and love for his church family or to The Hospice of Baton Rouge.
