With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Carrie Lou Abernathy of Mendenhall, Mississippi, born in Independence, Louisiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 13, 2025 at the age of 74. She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Redmond and Ethel Newman Redmond; her brothers, Hubert Redmond and Willie Lee Redmond; and her grandson Braxton Higgins.
She is survived by: her husband James Abernathy; her children, Bobby (Connie), Billy (Ashley), James "Bubba" (Sandy), Carolyn, Marilyn (Travis), Brenda (Steve) and Amanda (Calvin "Cocky"); and her siblings, William "Bull" Redmond and Jo Ann Higgins. She is also survived by 22 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews.
