Ira Sue Fortenberry Obituary
We are sad to announce that on October 14, 2025, at the age of 92, Ira Sue Fortenberry of Mendenhall, Mississippi passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Bro. Nelson Fortenberry; her parents, Thompson Massemore and Sarentha Welch Massemore; her grandchildren, Ronnie Ellzy, JoAnn Sheppard and Misty Ellzy; her great grandchild Cole Bridges; and her siblings, Willie B Thompson, Hazel Ellzy, Murle Myers and Pauline Berry.
She is survived by: her children, Johnny Ellzy (Sherry), Susan Borne and Linda Bridges (Dale); her stepchildren, Ronnie Fortenberry (Teresa) and Jackie Lott (Steve); and her siblings, Timmy Thompson (Tanealia) and Rebra Rainey. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and other family members.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall (3077 MS-13, Mendenhall, MS 39114). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.
