It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty McQuaig (Meridian, Mississippi), who passed away on December 19, 2018, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband James O. McQuaig; her parent Sallie Hayes; and her siblings, Peston Hayes, Howell Hayes and Ann Cullum.

She is survived by: her parent Patrick Hayes; her children, Jimmy McQuaig (Kathy) and Lesli McQuaig Christopher (Arthur); her brother Melvin Hayes (Dea); her grandchildren, Laura Jackson (Sidney), Michael Herring, Daniel Herring, Jackson Hatcher, Cara McQuaig, Marie Moore (Jerry) and Diane Sabell (Robert); and her great grandchildren, Austin Caraway, Olivia Caraway, Braizer Caraway, Keri Moore, Mark Moore, Lela Moore, Parker Sabell and Jamey Sabell.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Oak Grove Cemetery Fund, c/o Sandra Snowmen, 6979 C. R. 350, Meridian, MS 39301.

“To my dear cousin Betty, I just found this obituary after your Xmas card was returned, confirming you were gone. Sadness fills my heart today. I am so glad to have connected with my long-lost MS cousin back in the 1980s (I think) when searching for my Thompson family. It was a shame that after gr-great grandpa William died and Kitty, Josephus, etc went back to SC, that our families never connected again until we found each other (way before Ancestry and all that).
