He is survived by: his wife Faye Patterson Mathis; his children, Kevin Mathis (Kim) and Kelli Dedwylder (Greg); his stepsons, Ben Patterson (Dolhia) and Matthew Patterson; his grandchildren, Makenzie Miley (J. G.), Dalton Mathis, Whitley Mathis, Ava Dedwylder, Andi Brooke Dedwylder, Lauren Nichols (Dylan), Jackie Patterson, Heather Patterson, Joanna Patterson, Benjamin Patterson, Danielle Patterson, Allison Patterson and Janetta Patterson; his great grandchild Levi Nichols; and his sisters, Faye Williams Janice Taylor (Larry) and Amelia Mathis. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made in Doug's honor to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
