He was predeceased by: his son Ryan Dean; his parents, William Farris "W. F." and Odell Kirkpatrick Dean; and his siblings, Walter Norman Dean and Leah Wynette Posey.

He is survived by: his brother Leonard Dean Sr.; his nephew Leonard "Len" Dean Jr. (Margie); and his niece Brenda Nowell (Richard).
