He was predeceased by: his son Gary "Lee" Scruggs, Jr.; his parents, R. E. Scruggs and Dorothy Scruggs; and his nephew George Scruggs. He is survived by: his children, Theresa Scruggs and Robert Scruggs (Amy); his grandchildren, Sawyer Scruggs and Scarlett Scruggs; his siblings, Larry Scruggs (Darlene) and Linda Scruggs Lovett (James); and his nieces and nephews, James Lovett, Jr., Tommy Scruggs, Randy Scruggs, Laura Wilson and Jennifer Cofer.
The Scruggs family suggests memorials be made as donations to Bethany Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
