He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Shelton; his parents, Isaac Shelton and Amelia Shelton; and his siblings, Alma Shelton, Juanita "Nita" Yeager and James "Bud" Shelton (Amanda).
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Pamela Wilson (Ron), Carl Murray Jr. and Tim Murray (Sonja); his granddaughters, Laura Leonard (Kenneth), Jennifer Wilson and Emily Grace Murray; his great grandchildren, Kyle and Cooper Leonard; his sister Mary McLemore (Danny); his brother-in-law Henry E. Yeager; his cousin Joe Shelton (Clara); and his nephew Henry P. Yeager (Gina). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to Salem Baptist Church.
