He was predeceased by: his parents, Burton Mooney and Clarice Cox; his grandmother W. J. McDonald; his brother-in-law A. D. Baker; and his nephew Tony Therrell.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Mooney; his children, Robert Pitts (Stephanie), Stephanie Moore (Dale) and Joel Mooney, Jr. (Charmaine); and his siblings, Gail Baker, Janice Newell (Deryl), Ronny Phillips (Debby), Diane Nester, Marie Sutton (Benny) and Michael Munn (Ann Marie). He is also survived by Ten grandchildren, as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
The Mooney family suggest memorials be made as donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to the Salvation Army in lieu of flowers.
