She was predeceased by: her parents, Rachael Taylor Shields and William Benjamin Shields; and her brothers, William Benjamin Shields, Jr. and James Haywood Shields. She is survived by: her husband Watson McIver Garrison, Jr. (Mac); her children, Edwin McIver Garrison (Tracy) of Meridian, Idaho and Rebecca Garrison Bennett (Bo) of Raleigh; and her grandchildren, Joshua Garrison (Sierra), Jacob Benjamin Garrison, Marvin Butler Bennett IV, Rachael Shields Bennett (David Knight Liggett, Jr.) and Charles Garrison Bennett.
