He was predeceased by: his parents, Curtis A. Bateman and Gertie Bea Hemphill Bateman; his sister Joan Wansley; his parents-in-law, Pauline and Marzine "Mutt" Grace; and his brother-in-law Paul Grace.
He is survived by: his wife Faye Elizabeth Grace Bateman; his children, Stacy Bateman Leininger (Robert) and C. Hunter Bateman; his grandsons, Sean Bittick, Joseph Bittick, Michael Bittick (Ayla) and James Bateman (Summer); and his great grandchildren, Addison, Charlie Bittick, Alfred and Wesley Leininger. He is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM at the Midway Baptist Church (4579 Old 8th Street Rd N, Meridian, MS 39307). A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 11:30 AM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Mississippi Veteran's Memorial Cemetery (248 Honor Circle, Newton, MS 39345).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Mr. Bateman's memory be made to the Baptist Children's Village and/or to Midway Baptist Church.
