He was predeceased by: his mother Patricia Diane Coats; his stepmother Doris Jean Whittinghill; his grandparents, Leland McAlister, Mary Virginia and Kenneth Breland; his father-in-law James "Earl" Skipper; and his former wife Olene Runnels Whittinghill.
He is survived by: his wife April Whittinghill; his children, Mazie Keene (Christopher) of Morton and Gage Whittinghill of Taylorsville; his granddaughter Alice Keene; his father Erwin Jay Whittinghill of Raleigh; his brother Scott Whittinghill; his aunts and uncles, Janice Stout (Joe), Virginia Posey (Steve), David Whittinghill (Faye) of Raleigh and DeWayne Breland of Meridian; his niece Cashae Bynum (Joe); his mother-in-law Betty Skipper; his siblings-in-law, Kim Teer of Meridian, Kathy Gunn (Daniel) of Carthage and David Lee (Angel); his nieces, Jessica Hoyt (Joe) of Meridian and Sissy Price (Kendal) of Flowood; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Veda, Sabry Roberts, Carlisle and Little Mark Allen of Madison; his aunt Kay Livingston; and his close friend Steve Bihn.
