She was predeceased by: her parents, L. T. Fortson and Jewel Cox Fortson; her husband Oscar Dunn Smith (Smitty); and her siblings, Edith Kathleen Tolbert and Theo Fortson.
She is survived by: her daughters, Donna Smith of Brandon and Rosanne Smith James (Everett Hyman) of Santa Fe; her sister-in-law Ann Baine Fortson of Owensboro, KY; and her nieces, Susan Fortson Lonowski of Owensboro, KY, Sally Fortson Treppendahl of Woodville, MS and Marjorie Smith Gebhart (Dean) of Jackson.
