He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Howell Austin; his parents, Vardaman Austin and Nettie Butler Austin; and his siblings, David Austin, Shirley Fisher, Ann Mills and Pansy Ivy.
He is survived by: his children, Billy Austin (Penny) of Laurel, MS, James Austin of Mize, MS, Lisa Blackwell (Don) of Mize, MS and Belinda Kirk (Steve) of Fayetteville, NC; his sister Dora Ainsworth (Ray); and his grandchildren, Shontai Owens (Dustin), Tristan Austin (Kayla), Kaitlyn Montoya (Chris), Alex Kirk (Kansas), Austin Blackwell (Whitney), Seth Kirk and Marissa Sloan (Tyler). He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 23rd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Oak Grove Baptist Church (501 Cotton St, Mt Olive, MS 39119). A graveside service was held on Sunday, November 23rd 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location.
