It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Owanie Y. Thompson of Morton, Mississippi, who passed away on June 18, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her mother Lena Coats; her son Dewayne Thompson; and her siblings, Wautese Crapps and G. B. Ladd. She is survived by: her daughters, Kelly White (Bobby Jack), Kathy Garcia (David) and Melissa Applewhite (Robert); her brothers, Sammy Ladd (Helen) and Billy Joe Ladd (Barbara); and her husband Arnold B. Thompson. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ott & Lee Funeral Homes - Morton (3555 US-80, Morton, MS 39117). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the Eureka Baptist Church (1221 Midway Rd, Lena, MS 39094).
