It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Robert Byars Sr. (Moss Point, Mississippi), born in Woodland, Mississippi, who passed away on May 6, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his wife Melba; his sons, Donald Woodrow Byars (Evelyn Christina) and John Robert Byars, II; and his siblings, Mildred Porter, Margaret Brown, Melba Fortner and Charles Carlisle.

He is survived by : his son Shawn Byars (Victoria); his daughter-in-law Heidi Zweifel-Byars; his grandchildren, John Robert Byars, III (Clarrissa) and Emily Byars Williams (Micheal); his great grandchildren, Kathryn Cheyenne and Emma Renae Byars; his goddaughters, Dr. Ashley Allred and Amber Synesael; and his brother Terry Byars.

Visitation was held on Monday, May 13th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Heritage Funeral Home (9721 MS-63, Moss Point, MS 39562). A funeral service was held on Monday, May 13th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
