He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillian Ellis Haltom and Wyatt Haltom; and his sister Ada Devine. He is survived by: his wife Doris Proffitt Haltom; his children, Chris Haltom, Dorease Rioux (Tim), Tina Coston and Rochelle Hicks (Jason); and his grandchildren, Holly Elliott (Lance), Jesse Walters (Holly), Justin Walters, Isabella Hicks and Charles Ethan Hicks. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
