He was predeceased by: his parents, Cora Hoye and James Pettis; his grandmother Matilda Dean; and his brothers, Byran Keith Hoye, Charles Hoye and Curtis Hoye.
He is survived by: his children, James T. Dean, Jr., Shedrick Green, Sabrina Butler-Brown, Najee Herrington (Jeremis) and Denise Felton (Ronald); his siblings, Frankie Hoye, Michael Hoye, Brenda Hoye, Jacqueline Hoye, Vanessa Pettis-Lockhart and Mary Pettis-Paul; and his close friend Tracy Myles. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
