He was predeceased by: his parents, Elias L. Mizell and Dulcie Inez Murray Mizell; and his half-siblings, Edward Mizell, Murray Mizell, Colvin Mizell and Elsie Freeman.

He is survived by: his friend Nolen Cothren; his son Ronnie Lee Mizell, Jr.; his grandchildren, Maddox, Kai and Brixlee; and his sister Grace (Earnest Foster). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
