Joe South Obituary
Joe South, 83, of Nesbit, Mississippi formerly of Caraway, Arkansas passed away on July 1, 2025 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital. He was born on August 23, 1941 in Caraway, Arkansas to James and Lena (Warren) South. Joe was a member of the Caraway First Baptist Church in Caraway, Arkansas. He went on many mission trips with the church and was also a deacon. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and playing baseball. In his later years he enjoyed watching baseball, going to the coffee shop socializing with friends, and spending time with family.
Survivors include; two children: Barry South (Natalie) of Southaven, Mississippi and Robyn Laney (Bob) of Maumee, Ohio; five grandsons: Brandon South, Jonah South, Will South, Charles Baker, James Baker; eleven great grandchildren; one brother: James South of Long Beach, California; multiple nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by; his parents: James and Lena (Warren) South; wife: Sondra South; three sisters: Earnestine Simpson, Opal Carlock, Dorothy Dawson; and one brother: Leroy South.
Pallbearers: Dewight Whittenburg, Kenny Qualls, John Starnes, Randy Couch, Curtis Miller, and Gary Earnhart.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Caraway Cemetery in Caraway, Arkansas with Bro. Rick Stevens officiating; under the direction of Faith Funeral Service.
